During our December giveaway we asked what you guys wanted to see here on the blog. So many of you said that you wanted a post on styling prints on prints. So here it is. I’ve come up with a list of a couple simple tips/ rules to follow if you want to sport the print on print look. The Hijab Souq has a plethora of amazing printed hijabs ranging from floral to tribal prints – make sure to check out our New Arrivals for the latest printed additions to The Souq.
Keep it to 2 prints in one outfit:
Typically I find it best to stick with just two patterns. That doesn’t mean you can’t add different textures. Instead of playing with too many patterns substitute in different textures like leather, chiffon, and velvet. These will keep your outfit chic and interesting while not being overwhelming. If you are going for a printed top and scarf wear a pair solid pants that have a cool element of texture to them.
Mix abstract and graphic patterns:
Mixing abstract patterns like stripes, grids, and plaids with graphic prints like animal and floral are the best combinations! Mixing these work so well together because generally mixing two of the same prints can look too printed if that makes sense. You don't want to look like a big blob of print. A perfect example of this is this amazing outfit by The Jay Sisters (Click here to be linked to their blog post on this beautiful outfit). We love the way she paired our Hawaiian Escape floral printed hijab with a basic striped t-shirt- so classic and chic!
Balance the outfit with neutrals
Two patterns can be a lot to the eye. Make sure to balance those eye-catching prints with neutral pieces so that the look isn’t too overwhelming. Adding a solid colored bag and shoes will automatically turn things down a notch.
