Wearing Hijab I often find myself left out from all the fun in neck accessories, especially in the winter. In last week's post we talked about the turban, a style that leaves your neck exposed. I know what your thinking, "Why would I want my neck exposed in this freezing weather", and I know that most of the time wearing the standard hijab style in the winter is one of life's greatest gifts because it keeps your neck and ears all warm and toasty. But, what it doesn't let you do is explore all that winter has to offer in terms of neck accessories.
Among the many neck accessory options when wearing the turban are fur collars and infinity scarves.
Fur is by far my favorite way to accessorize in the fall/winter months. There's just this sense of class that exudes when you wear fur, whether it's real or fake. Generally, faux fur collars are easier to come by than genuine fur products, and obviously they're no where near as expensive as the real thing - who wants to spend more money than they have to? ASOS has an amazing collection of faux fur collars with a variety of colors and prices to choose from ( if you click ASOS above you'll get transferred to the faux fur collar page). If you have an existing coat or sweater that has a fur collar check to see if it's detachable- you might just get lucky!

Here I styled the turban with my fur collar, a printed sweater and a statement necklace. The fur collar is from Macy's, the sweater dress is from H&M, and the necklace is from the statement necklace line here at The Hijab Souq.
Infinity scarves have been in style for the past couple of winters and they aren't going anywhere. They generally come in two different materials, thick knit and cotton mixes. Since infinity scarves are so popular you can pretty much find them anywhere. I got the chunky knit one shown below from H&M last winter but I recently checked and the good news is they brought them back this year in more colors too!
For those of you who live in warmer winter climates but still love neck scarves cotton mix infinity scarves are perfect because they tend to be less warm than furs or knits. You can buy those at basic stores like Forever 21 and H&M. The one shown below is actually a DIY made from a forest green solid hijab. All I did was fold the hijab in half, tie the ends together, and drape it around my neck ( think of it like a figure 8 shape). That's all it takes! If your outfit is more solid you can opt for any of the printed hijabs you own and if it's a more printed outfit just take a complimenting solid colored hijab. Either way The Hijab Souq's got you covered (no pun intended).
